The governor of Erbil stressed the development of trade and tourism exchanges with the Islamic Republic of Iran on the basis of common interests
On Thursday, November 30, 2023, Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw received Mr. Nasrollah Rashnoudi, Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Erbil.
During the meeting, attended by Shakir Hussein Ahmad, Director General of Kurdistan Regional Government Relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Governor of Erbil extended congratulations to Shakir Hussein on his appointment.
The governor emphasized fostering bilateral ties between the Kurdistan Region and the Islamic Republic of Iran, particularly in trade, traffic facilitation, and tourism, based on mutual interest. Subsequently, discussions centered on the agreement between Erbil and Urmia provinces. Both parties expressed satisfaction that since the agreement, significant progress has been observed in trade activities at the international border gates of Haji Omeran and Tamarchin, with no reported issues.
The meeting also addressed preparations for the upcoming visit of the governor of Lorestan and the accompanying business delegation scheduled for November 17. Another focal point was the travel of citizens from the Kurdistan Region and Iran in their private vehicles.
A summary of jointly prepared measures was presented, and in response, the Governor of Erbil expressed his readiness to facilitate and cooperate on this matter.
Concluding the meeting, the Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Erbil extended gratitude to the Governor and affirmed readiness to offer assistance in enhancing and fostering relations.
