The Governor of Erbil receives the Turkish Consul General in Erbil

Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw received Turkish Consul General in Erbil Mohammed Mawlud Yagut at the governor's office today, Wednesday, January 17, 2024.
 

During the meeting, the Turkish Consul General in Erbil expressed his sympathy and condolences to the victims of the tragedy that occurred on the night of January 15 as a result of the missile bombing by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard forces on the capital, Erbil. He expressed his sincere condolences to the families of the victims, and wished a speedy recovery for the wounded, stressing his country’s readiness to treat the injured, wishing this would be the final tragedy.
 

For his part, the Governor of Erbil thanked the position of the Turkish Consul and Consulate General in Erbil, stating that: “The tragedy that occurred is a violation of the country’s sovereignty, good neighborliness, and human rights.” The area that was bombed targeted civilians, and all of Iran’s pretexts regarding the attack are incorrect, and there is no justification for their attacks. “It is unjust, and what happened is a clear crime against our city and the Kurdistan Region.”
 

In another aspect of the meeting, it was emphasized to continue strengthening and developing relations between the Kurdistan Region and Turkey. The Turkish Consul General in Erbil thanked the Governor of Erbil for the restoration of the old cemetery, which is an important part of Erbil’s history.
He expressed the readiness of the Consulate and the TIKA organization to provide all assistance and support in the restoration process. The Governor of Erbil appreciated the initiative, and stressed that the renovation of Erbil cemetery is to increase the amount of green spaces and plant trees along the outer fence.
He also thanked the TIKA organization for all the work it had done in the past in Erbil and the Kurdistan Region, and expressed his hope that the organization would have a greater role and It is carrying out more and better work and activities in Erbil Governorate, announcing the provision of all facilities, support and coordination by Erbil Governorate.

In conclusion, the Turkish Consul General in Erbil thanked the Governor of Erbil and the Erbil Governorate Administration for all the coordination, assistance and facilities provided to them to make their work in Erbil a success.
